Currie Park is a 19-hectare vacant area on the coast of Lake Worth Lagoon
The city of West Palm Beach, Florida, is home to Currie Park, a 19-hectare vacant area along the shores of Lake Worth Lagoon. Its history dates back to the 1920s, when Lake Worth served as the administrative center of the city. The city has since established a Historical Society of Lake Worth at the city’s public library. The museum was founded in 1996 and was designated a historic property in 2017.
The master plan for Currie Park draws on the research of the Italian architecture firm Carlo Ratti Associati, which specializes in innovative uses of water in architecture. The firm’s work includes the design of the Digital Water Pavilion, a pavilion at the 2008 Expo Zaragoza that featured retractable walls made of water. The project won the “Best Inventions of the Year” award from TIME magazine. The plan was unveiled on October 31 and construction is scheduled to start next year. It is hoped that the new development will be completed by 2018. A fantastic read!

Currie Park is located on North Flagler Drive and has boat ramps, a playground, and a Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial. However, over the years, the park has become a haven for the homeless. While the park was built in the 1920s, its waterfront location has made it a popular destination. In recent years, the park has been used as a home for the homeless, and the $17 million grant from the state Department of Economic Opportunity is expected to give the park a much-needed boost.
