How do you remove hard limescale?
Here are some tricks on how to get rid of hard limescale around your house.
Showerhead
If your showerhead gets clogged because of a heavy limescale build-up, grab some white vinegar. Pour it in a plastic sandwich bag. Dip your showerhead into it, and use a rubber band to ensure you don’t spill the vinegar. Leave it overnight, and wipe it clean the next day.
You can also cut a lemon in half and rub it on your showerhead. Let it sit for an hour, and then scrub with a toothbrush, making sure to unclog the holes.
Faucet
White vinegar and lemon are excellent at treating limescale around your faucet too. You can pour white vinegar on it or rub some lemon. Again, do it very carefully, as you want to cover every nook and cranny. Let the white vinegar/lemon do its job for half an hour. Scrub clean with a microfiber cloth.
Shower/bathtub
Make a paste by mixing 2 parts baking soda with 1 part white vinegar and apply to areas soiled due to excessive exposure to hard water. For best results, leave for 10 minutes and wipe with a sponge.
Toilet
Pour plenty of white vinegar into the toilet. Add some vinegar to a spray bottle and apply it under the toilet rim. Let it sit for an hour (ideally overnight). Scrub with a toilet brush once the limescale has dissolved. Then flush the toilet several times.
Coffeemaker
White vinegar does wonders for your coffeemaker. Add equal parts white vinegar and water into the water chamber. Turn on the coffeemaker. Switch off the appliance halfway through, and let the solution sit for an hour or so. Then finish off the cycle and run another water cycle to rinse the coffeemaker. Repeat if necessary to neutralize the pungent vinegar scent.
Dishwasher
White vinegar is the magical substance you need. Simply add two cups of white vinegar to the bottom of the dishwasher. Next, run the hottest cycle without any detergent. Finally, run another hot water cycle to eliminate the vinegar smell.
